چکیده

A monochromator with improved focusing properties has been designed and constructed using a novel optical geometry based on the Seya–Namioka concept. The only optical elements used are a spherical grating and a cylindrical mirror mounted in the exit arm within the Rowland circle , retaining the Seya–Namioka scanning simplicity while minimizing reflections. This optical system compensates for the astigmatism associated with spherical optics at large incidence angles as in the Seya–Namioka geometry shortening the effective vertical focal length and providing a single, tight focus. A method of constructing a similar apparatus for any given spherical grating is presented. Experiments involving coherent vacuum ultraviolet generation from harmonic mixing demonstrate the utility of the new design. © 2000 American Institute of Physics. S0034-6748 00 05510-6

Improved Fastness Properties of some Novel Triarylmethane Dyes on Acrylic Fibres

In this research, several series of triarylmethane dyes containing one or more terminal methoxy substituents with a variable tertiary amino groups have been used. These dyes have been applied to different substrates by using various methods including transfer printing and then their fastness properties were measured. These dyes shows exceptionally high light fastness (6-7) on acid modified poly...

X-ray Tomographic Microscopy at TOMCAT

Synchrotron-based X-ray Tomographic Microscopy is a powerful technique for fast non-destructive, high resolution quantitative volumetric investigations on diverse samples. At the TOMCAT (TOmographic Microscopy and Coherent rAdiology experimenTs) beamline at the Swiss Light Source, synchrotron light is delivered by a 2.9 T superbend. The main optical component, a Double Crystal Multilayer Monoch...

System Design and Energy Management for Indoor Solar Energy Harvesting Under Consideration of Spectral Characteristics of Solar Cells

A standardized characterization method for solar cells is only available for outdoor use. For the supply of wireless sensor nodes with energy harvesting also indoor applications are of interest. Without comparable values it is difficult to select the proper cell for defined environmental conditions. Therefore it is necessary to make an investigation on their behavior individually to be able to ...

The Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory - 20 Years of Synchrotron Light-

The Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (SSRL) is now operating as a fully dedicated light source with low emittance electron optics, delivering high brightness photon beams to 25 experimental stations six to seven months per year. On October 1,1993 SSRL became a Division of the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, rather than an Independent Laboratory -of Stanford University, so that high...

Reduced adhesion of human blood platelets to polyethylene tubing by microplasma surface modification

A hollow-cathode microplasma modified the lumenal surface of small-diameter polyethylene (PE) tubing. A microwave cavity diagnostic was used to measure the density of the microplasma. Plasma light output was observed with a monochromator at various positions along the PE tube to assess uniformity. Treatment effectiveness was evaluated by measuring the variation in capillary rise at various posi...
